Salary Silence

Equal Rights Advocates

Problem: Bring awareness to the fact that there is a significant wage gap in the U.S. between women's and mens' pay.

Insight: Regardless of gender, it’s taboo to talk about how much you make – leading to women and POC getting paid less and not even knowing it.

Big Idea: Get people to talk about what they make, holding their employers accountable.

LinkedIn users will be asked to report their wages, in exchange for a free month of LinkedIn premium. Employees will be alerted if their company is paying them less than someone else with their same position. They will then be given the choice to anonymously alert the executives of their company of the pay discrepancy.

We’ll also call out companies that haven’t fixed their race and gender pay gap, by placing ads right next to their digital billboards in NYC.

And as for the companies that have closed their wage gap, they’ll also get a shoutout (way to go, Target!).
